Sectoral Plan under the Disability Act 2005
Overview
The high level goal of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local
Government's sectoral plan is to promote and pro-actively encourage equal
opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in the economic,
social and cultural life of the community. The Department and its related
agencies and local authorities have made significant progress to date and are
committed to the implementation in full of the National Disability Strategy.
This sectoral plan, developed in consultation with people with disabilities, will
assist the Department, the bodies under its aegis and local authorities by
providing a more coherent structure to deliver an inclusive society with
accessible buildings, facilities, services and information provided to all.
