Kilkenny Arts Office at No. 76 John Street hosts a number of artists residencies each year, including visual artists residencies, writers residencies, performing arts and dance residencies.
The aim and focus of the Art Residency at No. 76 is to enable the successful applicants to research and develop their practice. Other aims of the residency are to: give insights into how and why artists create their work, build relationships and further promote the Arts, provide an awareness and further appreciation of the Arts, cultivate and develop new audiences.
Current Residency: Devious Theatre Company

Kilkenny County Council Arts Office has invited the exhilarating theatre Company that is Devious to take up residence at no.76 John Street for the best part of 2011. This residency will yet again enable the public to witness and experience the methods processes and workings of a particular art form, this time its theatre! Audiences can keep up with script development, public rehearsals, prop and set development to attending full-scale productions.
The Devious Theatre Company, or Devious Theatre as they're alternately known, was set up in 2006 by a bunch of Kilkenny theatre enthusiasts with a view to creating a program of fresh theatrical produce. In the time since they've brought shows like Heart Shaped Vinyl, Cannibal! The Musical!, from the creators of South Park, Trainspotting, and Dario Fo's iconic pairing of Accidental Death of An Anarchist and Can't Pay? Won't Pay! All performed in various venues throughout Kilkenny City.
Today, the company stand by their mission of creating theatre that is fun, innovative, different and daring as they say themselves "We want to create a theatre that's not academic or precious or stuffy, just live performance delivered as live performance should be: immediate, energetic, engaging and always entertaining."
