Welcome to the Heritage section of Kilkenny County Council
The Heritage Office promotes interest, education, knowledge and pride in the heritage of the City and County of Kilkenny. The Office seeks to facilitate appreciation and enjoyment of heritage and in doing so co-operate with other bodies in the promotion of its functions. The Heritage Office is committed to providing high quality advice on all matters relating to heritage issues. It also seeks to assist in the development of the Local Authority's heritage policy.
The heritage Officer works in conjunction with the Kilkenny Heritage Forum to implement the Kilkenny Heritage Plan and the Kilkenny Biodiversity Plan. Both plans are 5 year plans which outline how the local authority, in association with its partners, aims to indentify, protect, conserve and manage the heritage and biodiversity, respectively, of the City and County._
