Proposal to carry out upgrade works to Castlecomer WWTP at Smithstown, Castlecomer, Co.Kilkenny
Planning And Development Act 2000 - 2010
Pursuant to Section 177AE of the Planning and Development Act 2000-2010 as inserted into the Act by Section 57 (Part XAB) of the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act, 2010 and the requirements of the Planning & Development (Amendment) Regulations 2011, notice is hereby given that Kilkenny County Council proposes to seek the approval of An Bord Pleanala for the construction of the following upgrade works to Castlecomer Wastewater Treatment Plant at Smithstown, Castlecomer Co.Kilkenny:
a) upgrade of Siphon
b) construction of new inlet works
c) conversion of existing Imhoff tank to Buffer tank
d) Phosphorous removal by chemical dosing
e) Installation of 2 no. Sequence Batch Reactor Tanks
f) Conversion of existing Clarifier to a Picket Fence Thickener
g) Provision of a new Sludge Holding Tank
h) and associated ancillary works
A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development.
The Board may give approval to the application for development with or without conditions or may refuse the application for development.
The Application and the Natura Impact Statement may be inspected free of charge or purchased at the following offices:
- Kilkenny County Council, Water Services Section, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny
- Kilkenny County Council Area Offices, Kilkenny Street, Castlecomer, Co.Kilkenny
from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, for a period from 27th January 2012 to Friday 9th March 2012.
Submissions or observations with regard to the proposed development, relating to
I. The implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,
II. The likely effects on the environment of the proposed development and
III. The likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European site
